Yesterday over on one of Google’s blogs it was mentioned that Chrome 2 had been promoted from a Beta to a stable release. A whole bunch of new features have been included in this update which on the whole, makes the Chrome browser more stable and faster. Features included in the update are a new version of WebKit which is responsible for rendering the web pages. A new network stack can be found and also some improvements that speed up the V8 Javascript engine. Of course, it probably doesn’t matter to you that there is a new network stack but a mixture of these features will bring you a better browsing experience.
Other features on Chrome 2 include form autofill, full screen mode and a new Tab page. The browser is now available in 50 languages which sees the addition of Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Oriya, Tamil and Teluga.
CNET have run a benchmark to compare it with other browsers on the market and found that once again, Chrome is the fastest browser out there. Javascript seems to be where it wins the race which means, put simply, that any page that uses javascript (think GMail and many other sites) will have their pages loaded a lot faster. Check out the benchmark test below…

Chrome 2 is available for download over on the Chrome site.
