If you have some sort of portable media player such as an iPhone, MP4 player, Windows Mobile Smartphone or whatever else that is capable of playing videos then you need to check out Handbrake. Handbrake is a program that rips DVD’s and converts them in to formats that are compatible with smaller video playing devices.
It’s a simple to use program which accommodates mainly for iPhone, iPod Touch, Apple TV, PSP, PS3 and XBox 360 owners but still allows for custom settings so you can convert for any screen size you wish.
You can download Handbrake here.
How to rip a DVD
After the quick install, the process is rather simple. First off you load up the software and insert a DVD in to your DVD player.
1.)Next you click Source on the Handbrake program.
2.)When the DVD is recognised, information about the number of chapters and length of the movie will be listed.
3.)Next you select the output format covering AVI and M4V as well as others.
4.)Select a destination folder next and then a file name.
5.)Move through the tabs below setting your output resolution and whatever else you like to set such as audio quality.
6.)Hit Start.
At this point a command prompt will open up and display information on what is being ripped and the status.
After the process is done you are good to go. Thanks to Switched for pointing the software out.
