According to a report released recently, Windows 7 will be Microsofts more secure Windows version to date. That might not sounds like good news as Windows versions in the past have had their fair share of vulnerabilities that constantly are getting patched up. For this reason, experts are saying that professional scammers might have to look in to other ways to actually scam people. The new OS, Windows 7, could possibly be that secure.
A new report by PureWire’s Paul Royal, published in SC Magazine, a publication geared towards security professionals, indicates that Windows 7 will be the most secure Windows operating system to date. He concludes that all but the many casual attackers will be frustrated enough to turn to easier routes of attack, such as social engineering schemes.
As well as being secure in the basic Windows 7 form, Windows 7 also has an XP Mode which is said to cripple a good number of malware programs as well as rendering the majority of rootkits useless thanks to it working with hardware virtualisation.
Other ways that hackers get in to systems is by weaknesses in browsers. Both Firefox and IE8 have also patched up the most common routes to attacking, so this also ads an extra layer of security on top although to be honest, some smart kid will come along and break in sooner or later. Will you be upgrading or installing Windows 7? I think I might be trying it on one of my laptops. Via: Gadgetell
